Directions:

You will find PlusCamp Saltstraumen on the RV17, 33km from Bodø, close by the Saltstraumen Bridge. It is well signed.

 

Facilities at Campsite:

 We have 24 cottages in different price ranges, 20 tent spaces and 80 trailer/motor home spaces with electricity.

Saltstraumen Camping is a member of Pluscamp.

 

Saltstraumen is where you will find the world-famous Maelstrom (now reproduced in Florida) where 4 times a day 400 million cubic metres of water chum through the narrow strait. It is an ideal envirement for plankton which attract huge quantities of fish. Superb fishing is therefor available within a few minutes walk of the camp.

 

The maelstrom is well worth visiting even if you do not enjoy fishing. Whirlpools surge, join one another, then dispense. Sometimes whirlpools up to more than 15 meters across form in this dramatic display.

 

The camp is equipped for families: there is a playground, crazy golf and a safe envirement. A well-stocked shop (open 7 days a week) is close by and there are opportunities for walking. Diving-center (new 2011). Two excellent restaurants are nearby with a museum and gallery. There is also a 6-hole practice golf course with high quality greens.

 

Fishermen can use (without charge) the purpose - built gutting room and the freezing room (- 21° C)..
