Plus Camp Saltstraumen Camping
Saltstraumen Camping is a stone's throw from the tidal stream Saltstraumen, which is considered the world's strongest tide stream. With cabins and apartments of varied size and motor homes / caravans, we are a perfect stopover at the northernmost natural point of Kystriksveien. It's a mighty experience to sit by the water's edge and hear the bubble ring from the huge water masses and see the swirls created under the Saltstraumen Bridge.
Saltstraumen Camping was started in 1985 by Arvid and Karen Eva Nyheim. Today's owner Geir Nyheim took over in 2004.
Saltstraumen Camping is open year round and has 19 cabins and 4 apartments with shower / WC, TV and dishwasher. We also have 4 simple cabins for accommodation, many tent sites and approx. 80 caravan sites.
In the newly renovated service facility there are showers and toilets divided into small separate rooms and a family bathroom. Wireless free WiFi. Newly built locker room and freezer compartment.
From the campsite there is a varied hiking trail, and some of the trails along the stream are adapted for wheelchairs. The nearby mountains are attractive for peak trips both summer and winter. Saltstraumen has rich marine life, and fishing is possible from land. We can arrange boat rentals.
Saltstraumen DykkeCamp is located next door, offering diving and snorkeling in the stream. We also drive boat trips in Saltstraumen.
The livelihood in Bodø is only 40 minutes away with shops, cafes and restaurants, a rich concert life, Nordlandsbadet and the Norwegian Aviation Museum. There are buses from Saltstraumen to Bodø several times a day.
